Asked Questions
Q: How many stations are located along the Cross County MetroLink Extension, and how many parking spaces are available?
A: There are nine new MetroLink stations on the Cross County Extension. The Forest Park-DeBaliviere station has been reconfigured as a center platform station. In the Spring of 2007, there will be a 10-level parking garage at the new Brentwood I-64 station, and an 800-car park-ride lot at the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 station. The Forest Park-DeBaliviere station's 100-space park-ride lot has also been reconstructed as part of the project. Metro customers also have access to the St. Louis County Shaw Park Garage in Clayton. If just parking for a limited time, the fee is the regular garage price. However, Metro customers may also purchase a combo-pass for $80 that provides them with a month of parking and unlimited Metro access.
Q: Are passengers traveling from Clayton to downtown required to transfer to a different train at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station?
A: Eastbound passengers from Clayton do not need to change trains to travel to downtown St. Louis.
Q. Is there a direct line from downtown to Shrewsbury or is there a need to transfer at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station?
A: All trains originating from Shrewsbury travel directly to the Emerson Park station in Illinois, and vice versa. All trains originating at Lambert Airport travel to the end of the line in Illinois--at the Shiloh-Scott station, and vice versa. Therefore, if you are traveling westbound from downtown, every other train will travel to Shrewsbury. Hence, it is important to read the train's head sign. If you board a train that reads Lambert Airport, you will have to switch trains at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station in order to reach Shrewsbury.
Q: Have MetroBus routes been restructured to coincide with the opening of Cross County?
A: Yes. MetroBus service has been restructured to better connect surrounding communities to the Cross County MetroLink line. Service on redundant, parallel MetroBus routes have been reduced, since passengers are able to reach their destinations using MetroLink.
Q: When did Cross County open for service?
A: The Cross County MetroLink Extension opened for passenger service on August 28, 2006.
Q: Are there security features at Cross County stations?
A: Yes. Security features at Cross County stations include:
- Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) that will be monitored by MetroLink Central Control
- Passenger Assistance Telephones (PATs) will be installed on MetroLink station platforms. These phones allow passengers to speak directly to MetroLink Central Control.
- Code Blue Phones will be installed on park-ride lots. Code Blue phones allow immediate communication with MetroLink Central Control.
- St. Louis City and St. Louis County police patrol the alignment as they do the existing MetroLink alignment
Q: What did Metro do to ensure participation of minority- and women-owned firms during construction of Cross County?
A: We at Metro take seriously our commitment to diversity. Metro divided the largest contracts for Cross County construction into five Facilities packages and one Transit Systems package, to increase competition and enable smaller, minority- and woman-owned firms the opportunity to bid and work on the Project. In addition, Metro divided the Station Finishes construction work into five separate contracts to enable smaller, minority- and woman-owned firms the opportunity bid as prime contractors. Metro set strong goals for minority participation for Cross County construction contracts and is committed to the minority contracting and construction community.
